It is my biggest fear that I will try to write a fantastically funny book re: me, and end up with a wispy, lame-ish, mediocre work like this one. Jill was a writer on HBO's Six Feet Under, and took it upon herself to explain her life via this book. Yawn. As much as I appreciate the ladies who write, it saddens me to read an entire book that's supposed to be funny without once smiling.

India Amos, a book interior designer, details the behind-the-scenes work in putting that manuscript into saleable order. Along with her sneak peek, she drops a disturbing fact-- most readers do not get past page 18 in a book they've purchased.
I apparently read and loved this 5 years ago but remembered nothing of the story, so I picked it up again. I'm just not in the mood to slog through pages and pages of translated words-- and that's what this seems to be: words upon words upon words. Maybe I'll try again when I'm in a non-modern mood.
