The recently discovered Bookslut offers up this article to help you decide what goes and what stays when the shelves begin to overflow.
From the obvious "Get rid of books you don't like" to the not so obvious "Keep only one copy of a book, unless it's out of print." This will help me pare down my number of Moby Dicks to a reasonable 2 copies. Because in my mind, you need one copy to bring to the beach, and one copy that you'd rather not immerse in sand and water.
